Macrame is a form of craft using a knotting technique with a rich history. From sailors to craftsmen, it was used to make belts, jewelry, friendship bracelets or decoration items. This old form of craft was very popular in the Mediterranean & the Middle East in the 1970’s for making tablecloths, bedspreads, plant hangers, wall hangings and other decorative items. Its popularity faded for some time and re-emerged recently with the rise of bohemian décor trends especially amongst millennials. North American consumers discovered macrame recently and adopted textiles made with this technique in their homes with good reason!
